Welcome to Reception Class
Who are we?
We are 4 and 5 year old pupils starting school for the full day.
In Reception we enjoy learning through play both indoors and outdoors, as well as working in small groups with an adult.
Who teaches us?
Mrs Dyer and Mrs Elliot are our class teachers. Mrs Stores is our teaching assistant in Reception, with Miss Bowers providing support in the afternoons.
We love working hard to get our jobs done!
What do we do in class?
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage for our lessons. Our topic plans and curriculum letter give details of the different areas of learning and the types of activities we do. We like to work outside in the wildlife garden and keep waterproofs and wellies in school so that we can go out in all weathers!
In Reception we follow Read Write Inc, during the first half term we introduce the children to a daily sound.
In class adults regularly listen to children read. Reading books are sent home weekly to develop their phonic knowledge and enjoyment of stories.
One of our favourite lessons is P.E. especially when we use the big apparatus. We have P.E. regularly and in the Summer term we also go swimming at Waves.
Once we are settled in our Autumn term we will start to visit the school library to choose a book to take home - we have a lot of lovely stories.
