Hawkhirst Day 1

Well, we made it to Hawkhirst! Luckily the weather has been beautiful all day, which was a blessing as we spent the afternoon paddling our Bell Boats around the lake. Some children even decided to jump in at the end of the activity! We paddled to an island and the children were asked to find the ‘monster’, which turned out to be a giant sculpture of a head! We also played an exciting game of camouflage, where the children had to hide. Some were very good at ‘disappearing’ :-). Our arms are very tired now but we have just enjoyed a delicious evening meal and are settling into our rooms. Let’s hope for a quiet night!

Hawkhirst Day 2

What an exhilarating day! We set off this morning in the glorious sunshine to complete a variety of exciting activities, including the zip wire, climbing, orienteering and the adventure course. This afternoon we have taken part in the problem solving, crate stacking and one group even went on a boat trip around the reservoir, where the children were allowed to steer the ship! After a hearty meal we are now raring to go with our evening activities then back to our lodge for a well deserved rest.

Hawkhirst Day 3

We can’t quite believe that we are midway through our trip already! We woke this morning to another sunny day and split into our 3 groups to continue the activities that we didn’t complete yesterday. One group built rafts, another did archery and crate stacking and the third took part in orienteering and problem solving. This afternoon, we visited the Birds of Prey Centre, which was incredible! The children were able to handle the birds, feed them, they made a tunnel for one bird to walk through and one even took a member of the group’s hat! Luckily, the hat was returned safely at the end of the show! We were all amazed by Ray, who runs the Centre, and asked lots of insightful questions. What an exciting opportunity! We are currently just getting ready for our campfire this evening and looking forward to what else is in store for us tomorrow.

Hawkhirst Day 4

Happy Birthday to a member of our gang! What an exciting way to spend your birthday! With 9 splashes replacing the usual bumps, you got quite wet!

Another fun filled day here at Hawkhirst with raft building, abseiling, and tomahawk throwing. The children are currently spending all their money at the shop before heading out for the evening activities of; a boat ride on the reservoir, problem solving or completing the adventure course with the added excitement of the water hat challenge!

Everyone is looking forward to Bush Craft in the morning before we have to sadly say farewell to Hawkhirst. A little dirtier, a little braver but a lot happier.
